Update (3/27/2020): Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order that authorizes local governments to pause evictions for renters. The protection is in effect through May 31, 2020, for now. Tenants are still obligated to pay rent, and landlords can still recover rent that is due. 
 
Tenants who are having issues may call the Fair Housing Council of Riverside County at 1-800-655-1812.
 
Fair Housing Council of Riverside County, Inc. (FHCRC) is a non-profit organization that fights to protect the housing rights of all individuals. This organization, approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), works with government offices to ensure Fair Housing laws are upheld. Housing Authority of Riverside County
Update (3/23/2020): Riverside County provides emergency housing for homeless individuals
The County of Riverside has identified hotels and motels with available units for unsheltered
homeless individuals to provide emergency temporary housing during the state order to “stay
at home.”
 
Eligible unsheltered homeless individuals include those who are 65 and older, pregnant, have a
serious chronic health condition such as heart disease, diabetes, or lung disease, or have a
compromised immune system. Homeless individuals who are ill or have been diagnosed with
COVID-19 will be housed through a different system.
 
Eligible clients can be referred to temporary hotel and motel housing by calling the
HomeConnect hotline at 1-800-498-8847.
